The Lab Terminology Application facilitates the creation of sets of Laboratory test codes (taken from LOINC), and enables one to relate those to:
- materials on which this test can be performed, such as 'Blood' or 'Urine';
- methods which can be used for this test, such as 'Chemiluminescence assay' or 'Potassium hydroxide stain method';
- outcomes, which can be units ('gram per liter') or ordinal or nominal lists of permitted outcomes ('Not seen/Trace/+/++/+++').
Materials and methods are selected from Snomed CT. Units are expressed in UCUM. Nominal or ordinal valuesets are defined in the application itself.
